400 Level Student of IBBU Lapai Shot to Death by Military in Niger State

A 400 level student department of public administration identified as Ismail Ishaq Magaji has been reportedly shot to death by Nigerian Military task force team operating in New Bussa, Borgu local government area of Niger state.
The incident was said to have occurred on Thursday, sequel to a communal clash during which a bullet hits that killed the innocent 400 level student.
The late student was expected to commence writing his final examination from 5th September, 2026 hence the commencement of ASUU strike declaration.
Following the Indefinite strike announcement embarked upon by the IBBUL, Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU), the deceased student
was compelled to return home after waited for two weeks whether it would be called off but went in vain before he traveled home.
According to reports, a land dispute in Wawa community, under Borgu Kingdom, reportedly had led to sporadic shooting by the military personnel which eventually hits the victim.
According to his course mate, Yahaya Gambo Lawal “Ismail Ishaq Magaji, described as a promising 400-level student of Public Administration at IBBU, should have been in the classroom preparing for his examinations and future in order to contribute to the development of the society.”
“We will surely miss his gentility, calmness, gravity and simplicity, he was a very friendly person, very accommodating, it’s very unfortunate and worrisome that he was killed by those paid to protect us in the society.”
He added that, “May Allah forgive Ismail Ishaq Magaji all his shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family the strength to bear this unbearable loss.”
No official statements on the development yet from relevant authorities as at the time of filing this report
