Former Niger APC Stalwart Accuses Governor Bago of Deceitful Leadership
By YM Bina
The administration of Governor Mohammed Umar Bago has been described as the worst since 1999 in Niger state despite its enormous availability resources with nothing to celebrate but recruiting political liability ahead of 2027 general elections.
He said that the All Progressives Congress APC has become a shadow of itself due to bad leadership full of deceit, lies, deep corruption, maladministration, looting and misappropriation of public funds the party had earlier accused the Peoples Democratic Party before its victory in the country and the state.
The Former Niger State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Jonathan Tsadó Vatsa, criticised Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago’s administration over the alleged increase in the cost of remodelling IBB Specialist Hospital from N11.8 billion to N18.2 billion, saying the project remains incomplete.
Vatsa made the disclosure during a press briefing in Minna, where he questioned why the project’s cost had reportedly risen by N6.4 billion without its completion, calling for scrutiny of the funds committed to the remodelling exercise.
A former chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, described the state government acclaimed procurement of MIR machine in IBB specialized hospital as a scam and fraudulent, adding that the hospital project is one of the most questionable undertakings of governor Bago’s administration and demanded accountability for the expenditure.
He maintained that the utilisation of an alleged N1.5 trillion loan obtained by the state government which he regretted to have taking N500 billion for the various road projects is questionable, requested for what happened to N1 trillion balance of the loan collected.
The former APC stalwart lamented over several road projects across the state that had been abandoned despite increased FAAC allocation and substantial borrowing by the administration of Governor Bago in Niger state.
Vatsa further warned that the state’s growing debt burden could impose financial difficulties on future generations, arguing that the government had failed to translate the resources at its disposal into completed infrastructure development in the state.
He declared that governor Bago is using the tax payers money to finance APC Campaign Council in the state and urged him to desist from such attitude.
According to Vatsa, the bad governance by the APC administration is currently at alarming proportion especially under the leadership of governor Mohammed Umar Bago who has nothing to show in the last three and half years of his administration in the state.
Jonathan Tsado Vatsa explained that the so-called slogan of a New Niger is nothing but a deceit, a sharp contrast to the reality on ground, he added that the Niger Food we were told to be for food security has turned to be a condict pipe. While the media propaganda called Agricultural Revolution of the administration turns up to be a broad day light fraud in the history of Niger state where billions of naira has gone down the drain without no farm anywhere.
