The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Chanchaga Federal Constituency of Niger State, Hon. Adamu Abubakar Salami, has promised to prioritise job creation and sustainable empowerment programmes for youths and women if elected to the House of Representatives.
Salami made the pledge while speaking with journalists in Minna after interacting with youths and women from the constituency, where he said improving their socio-economic well-being would remain one of his major priorities.
He said, “I shall not let you down on those agreed goals as we strive to enhance your socio-economic well-being.”
According to him, youth and women empowerment would form the core of his legislative agenda, stressing that the two groups remained critical drivers of economic growth and development in any society.
He said he would also promote legislation aimed at creating an enabling environment for youths and women to embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies to enhance productivity and contribute to the development of Niger State.
“The world has embraced AI models as tools of growth and development. I shall strive to bring legislations that create the enabling environment for our youths and women to embrace it too, enabling them to harness its immense potentials for developing our state,” he said.
Salami added that his legislative agenda would focus on facilitating access to affordable financial opportunities for young people and women to enable them to establish and expand businesses without the cumbersome processes associated with accessing funds and marketing their products.
He stressed that youths and women would be central to the formulation of his legislative agenda, saying their ideas and contributions would be incorporated through a bottom-up approach to development.
The APC candidate urged youths in the constituency to vote massively for all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections, saying such support would enable the party to implement programmes that would address their aspirations.
He also assured residents that his doors would remain open to individuals and groups seeking to engage him on issues that would promote the welfare and development of the constituency and the state.
Salami commended Governor Umaru Bago for what he described as purposeful leadership and the massive economic projects being executed across the state, saying the New Niger Agenda was already becoming a reality.
He also commended the APC leadership for conducting what he described as successful primaries, while calling on party members to unite behind the party’s leadership as the elections draw closer.
On youth restiveness, Salami assured residents that the state government and other stakeholders were working to prevent the recurrence of such incidents and ensure peace and stability in the constituency.
