National President of the Bida Old Students Association (BOSA), Government College Bida, retired Major-General Abdulmalik Halidu Giwa, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of a foremost educationist and administrator, the late Mallam Ilyasu Tauheed Bida.
In a condolence message, Major-General Giwa, who also holds the traditional title of Taimakon Nupe, described the passing of Mallam Ilyasu as a great loss to Government College Bida and the entire education sector.
He noted that the deceased was a rare gem, a respected teacher, and a man of honour whose impact will be felt by both present and future generations.
According to him, the late Mallam Ilyasu will be remembered for his simplicity, honesty,  hard work and unwavering commitment to the development of education in Niger State and Nigeria at large.
While noting that BOSA members are deeply pained by the loss, the association’s president said they are comforted by the fulfilled life the deceased lived and the enduring legacies he left behind.
He stressed that the best way to immortalize Mallam Ilyasu is by upholding his virtues of sincerity and acceptance of all people.
BOSA President added that the deceased had a long-standing legacy of imparting knowledge to several prominent Nigerian leaders, including Generals Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar, as well as first-class emirs and notable politicians.
Major-General Giwa emphasized that the history of Government College Bida would be incomplete without mention of Mallam Ilyasu, particularly in the areas of wood and metal works fabrication, as well as technical drawing.
He further eulogized the late educationist’s dexterity, patience, and tolerance, qualities that helped shape many of his students into influential and accomplished individuals in society.
He also extended prayers for strength and comfort to the bereaved family, the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, as well as the staff and students of Government College Bida during this period of mourning.
On behalf of the association, Major-General Giwa prayed for Allah’s forgiveness for the deceased, asking that he be granted Aljannatul Firdaus.
