Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has appreciated  President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Dangote Group for their roles in the reconstruction and dualisation of the 401-kilometre Lambata-Bida-Mokwa-Makera-Kontagora Federal Highway, valued at one point eight trillion naira.
The governor described the project as a significant development for Niger State, saying it would improve transportation, boost agricultural activities, expand trade and create economic opportunities for communities along the highway corridor.
Bago in a statement, noted that improved road infrastructure was essential for economic growth, food security and national development.
He also acknowledged the Minister of Works, David Umahi, and officials of the ministry for their contributions towards the commencement of the project.
The governor further commended the Dangote Group for partnering with the Federal Government, describing the collaboration as an example of private-sector participation in the development of public infrastructure.
Bago said the highway would strengthen the movement of agricultural produce and other goods, improve access to markets and social amenities, and stimulate commercial activities across communities along the route.
He called on residents and other stakeholders along the corridor to cooperate with the relevant authorities and protect construction infrastructure to ensure the smooth execution of the project.
