IBB UNIVERSITY MOURNS DEATH OF 37 ARTISANAL MINERS IN NIGERIA STATE

The Vice-Chancellor of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, Professor Mohammed Hadi Sulaiman, has expressed sadness over the death of 37 artisanal miners in Minna, Niger State.
The Vice-Chancellor, conveyed the University’s condolences on behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, Management, Staff and Students of the University to the Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, the Government, good people of Niger State and the families of the victims.
This is contained in a press statement issued by the Deputy Registrar, Information, Alhaji Baba Akote in Minna, that Professor Sulaiman described the incident that led the deaths as regrettable, painful and unfortunate tragedy which could have been averted.
He said the development is not only a loss to the State, but Nigeria as a whole and coming at a time when Nigerian youths are deep in making sacrifices that would reshape their future for good.
The Vice-Chancellor also prayed Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased and grant them eternal rest, asking Allah to give their families and loved ones the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
He also prayed for the State and its people, urging continued efforts to promote safer mining practices and prevent the recurrence of such a devastating incident.
