Niger East Youths Moves to Curb Cyber Bullying, Use Social Media Responsibly

A Political Support Organization TRIPLET FOR 313 has organized a capacity building training for the media handlers and influencers aimed at sanitizing and responsible use of the social media space to ensure ethical conduct by the media users in NIger East Senatorial District of Niger state.
The Director General of the group, Zaid Ayuba Alhaji made this known during the training session of the programme with the theme: “Zone B Digital Capacity Building Training on Responsible Use of the Social Media Ahead of the 2027 Elections” held in Minna, Niger state capital.
He said that as future leaders they have the responsibility to ensure peace, stability devoid of political affiliation to divide and destroy them, hence they must work assiduously to give the media handlers and influencers the direction on unity, responsibility, patriotism, and self accountability on the say, do’s and don’t on the social media space.
Zaid Ayuba Alhaji emphasized that this has become necessary following the recent youths use of social media to castigates, insults personalities, unethical conducts that is killing the trust and ambition of every political participants in NIger State which can not longer be tolerated hence the need for the training to change the narrative for better.
According to him, it is sacrosanct to invite the security agencies like the police and civil defense corps, media aides, and a professional as a facilitator to educate and enlightened them on the responsible use of social media space and the detrimental consequences of unethical conducts on the social media handlers and influencers in the society.
He noted that such social media behavior is uncultured and the need to ensure the sanctity of morality, decorum, and respect to be restored as the state was known for over the years, hence they are taking the lead for other critical stakeholders in the state to emulate for the betterment of Niger state.
The facilitator who is a Human Angel Investigator, Isah Ismaila called for the regulation of the social media space to ensure responsible context, fact checking, ethical formation, and  critical thinking in order to build credibility, trust, honesty, shape opinion, respect for audiences, and impactful communication to the public.
In his remarks, the Niger State command Police Public Relations Officer PPRO SP Wasiu Abiodun warned against misinformation, disinformation, malinformation and hate speech as the Cyber Crime Act awaits offenders which includes cyber bullying, cyber false alarm among others.
SP Wasiu Abiodun however called for a responsible use of social media that has positive impacts on the society and assured that the Niger state police command will allowed a level playing grounds for all political parties during the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
The event was attended by the 99wards of the nine local government areas coordinators from Zone B, security agencies media teams, the social media handlers and influencers as well as some of the government media aides.
