IBBU Lapai Secures NUC Approval For Additional 13 New Academic Programs

Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, (IBBU), Lapai has secured approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence 13 new full-time undergraduate programmes from the 2026/2027 academic session.
The new programmes are: B.Sc Community Health, B.N.Sc Nursing, B.Sc Industrial Chemistry, B.Sc Intelligence  and Security Studies, B.Sc, Library and Information Sciences, B.Sc Medical Laboratory Science and B.ScApplied Geophysics.
Others are B.Sc Physics with Electronics, B.Sc Cyber Security, B.A Nupe, B.Sc Botany, B.Sc Zoology and M.Sc and Ph.D Food Science and Technology respectively.
A letter from the National Universities Commission dated 11th September, 2026 signed by the Director, Academic Planning, Abubakar M. Gerei and addressed to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Mohamed Hadi Suleiman, congratulates the University on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Professor Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu.
The letter also ‘enjoined the University to provide adequate human and material resources for the department and growth of the approved programmes.
All programmes are aimed at further expanding the University’s academic offerings in emerging and specialised fields.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor. Mohammed Hadi Sulaiman described the approval as a very important step in expanding access to university education and strengthening the University’s capacity to respond to the needs of a rapidly changing world.
He congratulated the entire University community and extended a heartfelt gratitude to the Visitor, Farmer Governor Mohammed Umar Bago for continued support to the Institution, describing the journey so far as very encouraging.
The Vice Chancellor also appreciated the encouragement the University always received from the Honourable Commissioners and the entire staff Ministries of Tertiary Education, Finance, as well as Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Professor Sulaiman further reaffirmed the University’s commitment to providing the requisite human and material resources to ensure the successful implementation of the programmes in line with the National Universities Commission standard.
He urged all prospective applicants to continue to have fate in the University a for smoother admission process.
