NIGERIA AT 66; GOV. BAGO URGES RESIDENTS OF NIGER STATE TO SUSTAIN UNITY, RESILIENCE, AND PATRIOTISM

Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, has congratulated Nigerians, especially residents of Niger State, on the nation’s 66th independence anniversary.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State, Bologi Ibrahim in a statement issued in Minna, said the Governor acknowledged that Nigeria has made significant progress in its journey of nationhood from 1960.
He stated that the people have truly demonstrated tolerance, resilience, strength, and unity by sticking together as one entity despite cultural diversity.
Governor Bago noted that Nigeria is a blessed nation with abundant human, natural, and capital resources.
He praised the founding fathers of the nation and other leaders who have made significant contributions to keep the country united.
The state Governor noted that Niger State, as a federating unit, has experienced development by successive administrations, adding that the present administration is working assiduously to ensure peace and tranquility.
“As we celebrate the 66th year of nationhood, I urge all residents of Niger State to reflect deeply on our success stories rather than discouraging ones.
“We should be thankful to God for the unity in diversity despite the challenges we are facing.
“We have been bedeviled by insecurity in parts of the state; however, as a people, let us be positive and strengthen our commitment, patriotism, and sacrifices so that we can collectively surmount the challenges.
He expresses hope for a better, greater, and prosperous Niger State in particular and Nigeria in general.
Bago reaffirmed his determination to strengthen institutions and bring reforms that would engender peace, rapid growth, and development in line with his New Niger agenda.
He notes that the Independence Day Celebration should serve as an opportunity for self reflection for Nigerlites, particularly as it relates to restoring societal norms and behaviors.
Governor Bago further urges the people of the state to sustain their prayers for the nation, Niger State, and for leaders at all levels to rightly and effectively lead the people and the society to greatness.
