2027:  Kebbi Govt Inaugurates APC Consensus Committee for its Aspirants

The Kebbi State Government has inaugurated a Consensus Committee to mediate among aspirants seeking various elective positions on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Inaugurating the committee at Government House, Birnin Kebbi, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, urged the committee members to ensure a peaceful resolution for the progress of the party.

He said: “Part of your mandate is to ensure that aspirants are brought together and called to order.

“Based on our party resolution, in APC we have direct primary election and, on the other hand, we have consensus.

“We have selected our leaders to be members of this committee to bring all the aspirants together so that we can achieve consensus.

“We believe in consensus, and we believe these calibre of people will do justice and ensure that consensus candidates emerge.”

The governor said that Kebbi State had opted for consensus in order to ensure unity and maintain peace in the party.

Dr Idris expressed optimism that the committee would come up with a clear roadmap “for the success of our great party.”

In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of the committee and former governor of the state, Alhaji Sa’idu Dakingari, thanked the governor for finding them worthy of the assignment.

Dakingari, who is also an Ambassador-designate, assured that the committee would do its best to ensure consensus candidates emerge for smooth and peaceful elections.

Members of the committee include Alhaji Sa’idu Dakingari, Chairman; retired Justice Muhammad Suleman-Ambursa; Alhaji Abubakar Kana-Zuru, APC State Chairman; Abubakar Gari Malam, Managing Director, Rima River Basin Authority; and Barrister Attahiru Macchido, Chief of Staff to the Governor.

Other members are Abubakar Muhammad Birnin Kebbi, State Commissioner for Finance; Hon. Suleiman Muhammad Argungu, APC National Organising Secretary; Alhaji Umar Idris, Kebbi State Political Leader; and Alhaji Yakubu Bala-Tafida, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), who will serve as Secretary of the committee.
