APC PRIMARY: Foundation Member Resigns in Niger State

A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress APC in Niger state Alhaji Abubakar Katcha has tendered his letter of resignation from the party following the recent way and manner the party primary election was conducted.
Abubakar Katcha one of the foundation members of the APC in Niger state in a letter addressed to the party Chairman of Katcha Ward, Katcha local government of Niger State dated 19th May, 2026 was made available to Journalists in Minna.
Alhaji Katcha stressed that he resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress in Katcha Ward with immediate effect because the last Senatorial primary election in Niger South does not reflect the party’s internal democracy.
“This decision follows the events of the Niger South Senatorial primary held on 18th May 2026, which did not reflect internal democracy”.
The former commissioner for Science and Technology thanked the ward for the opportunity to serve and wish all members well. Adding that he remained committed to the peace and progress of Katcha and Katcha local government area of the state.
Abubakar Katcha who was well known for being a straight forwarded person before his resignation held several positions to include: Chairman Forum For Foundation Members of APC (2015-2023), Chairman Concerned Stakeholders Forum Katcha local government and Expanded Interface Committee Chairman Bida-Gbako-Katcha Federal Constituency.
He has copied the letter titled; letter of resignation from the All Progressives Congress to the APC State chairman, the Zone A Niger South chairman and his local government APC chairman for notifications accordingly.
