Kebbi Gov.  Assures to Rehabilitate Flood-Damaged Road in the State

The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has assured residents of Fana community that his administration will consider the rehabilitation of the flood-damaged road linking Kyangakwai and Fana to Dakingari town.

The governor gave the assurance on Thursday during an inspection tour of the affected road. He noted that the damage has significantly impacted the local economy, particularly farmers and traders who rely on the route for their daily activities.

Governor Idris sympathized with the affected communities and pledged that the road would be rehabilitated to restore and enhance economic activities across the area.

Fana, a village in Dandi Local Government Area, shares a border with the Niger Republic.

Explaining the cause of the damage, Dr. Suleiman Fana, member representing Dandi Local Government Area in the Kebbi State House of Assembly, said the road was cut off following last year’s heavy rainfall.

“Your Excellency, this is a major commercial road, and its collapse has crippled many businesses, including commercial motorcycle operations and other trade services,” he said.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Works, Hon. Farouk Umar Muslim, stated that the only lasting solution is the construction of two additional culverts to allow proper water passage and ensure durability.
