Liverpool, meanwhile, have made an early move in their managerial planning.

Spanish outlet AS reports the Reds have contacted the representatives of former Real Madrid and Bayern Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso to gauge his availability.

The 44-year-old is said to have responded positively to the approach from his former club, fuelling speculation about a potential return to Anfield.

Bournemouth are close to sealing a permanent transfer deal for Vasco da Gama forward Rayan. The Athletic reports the 19-year-old Brazilian is nearing a move to the Premier League side.

In Italy, Lazio have tabled a transfer bid of up to £15m for Everton midfielder Tim Iroegbunam, according to Football Insider. The 22-year-old is attracting interest as the Toffees continue to assess their options.

Chelsea and Manchester United are both tracking Rennes striker Mohamed Kader Meite. CaughtOffside reports the 18-year-old is firmly on the radar of both clubs.
