Niger: Several Houses Destroy During Rain Storm in Mokwa Local Government

Windstorm have destroyed several houses during a heavy rain fall yesterday in Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State.
It was gathered that the heavy wind blew up many Residents homes causing another hardship to the people of the community affected by heavy flooding that had destroyed houses last year.
Reports revealed that the incident occurred around eleven to twelve midnight on Sunday rain came together with serious wind, rendering several residents.
A resident that spoke with our reporter stated that the residents are calling for the urgent intervention of governments and well to do individuals in order to alleviate the plight of the people.
Some residents have attributed the severity of the destruction to increasing environmental degradation in the area, particularly deforestation hence wrecked havoc in the area.
Although, no report of human casualties has been reported however the incident have caused many to take shelter under relatives, public facilities or getting immediate repairs for their shelter.
The chairman of Mokwa Local Government, Jibrin Abdullahi Muregi confirmed the incident in a statement issued to inform the Niger State Emergency Management Agency NSEMA and other relevant authorities about the development.
