Niger State Bleeds As Tribal Clash Claim Scores of Lives in Rafi LGA

Over 30 people were reportedly burnt to ashes, 26 people killed and several other victims seriously injured while thousands in the bush as a result of communal clashes between Fulani and Kamuku residing in Tegina, Rafi Local Government of Niger state.
It was reliably gathered that Kamuku people residing in Tegina District under Kagara Emirate are left to their faith as the attacks has continued unabated following the re-ocurance of Clash between Kamuku and Fulanis.
Speaking to journalists in Minna, a resident of the area, Alhaji Isah Tanko Tegina said the crisis started 24th June 2026 hence the reoccurrence due to lack of proactiveness on the part of the relevant authorities he described as insensitivity.
He called on the security agencies and governments to ensure protection of lives and property of the residents of the area as the crises continue to escalate in the community.
Alhaji Isah Tegina who symphatized with the family of those who lost their lives and property including those who lost their property, wishing those injured a very quick recovery.
The Niger State command Police Public Relations Officer PPRO SP Wasiu Abiodun in a statement issued in Minna confirmed the incident, said the attack happened on 29/6/2026 at about 11.30pm was allegedly linked to a lingering land crisis between two tribes in the area.
He added that report was received from Katako District area of Rafi LGA at Godoro village, suspected armed men fired gunshots at one Ibrahim Musa 25yrs who died on the spot, and as a result of this, a group of Yansakai blocked road and killed one Bashir Mazi 28yrs.
According to Abiodun, on 1/7/2026 at 10pm report received indicated that 15 persons were reportedly burnt to death in a two-bedroom flat at Angwan-Baago via Godoro village, while one other person was also killed at another location, bringing the number of death to eighteen
The police command noted that a reconciliation committee headed by the local government council officials are working with the security agencies towards addressing the crisis, as joint Police and military patrols have been deployed to the area to restore peace.
