30 Persons Killed, Scores Abducted in 4 Mosques Attack in Niger State

No fewer than 30 persons were reportedly killed following the recent attacks on four different mosques in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State last Friday.
It was reliably gathered that terrorists attacked the mosques simultaneously during Juma’at prayers in Dekara, Kpenya, Sabon-Gida and Gidan-Zana communities, abducting dozens of worshippers to unknown destinations.
Sources revealed that the suspected abductors in their numbers reportedly assembled the worshippers and marched them into the forest.
Speaking on the development, the Chairman of Borgu LGA, Mohammed Nasir Abdullahi in a telephone interview confirmed that about 30 of those abducted had been killed by the terrorists. While the communities had recovered the bodies of the victims and buried accordingly.
“From the records I have, those kidnapped were a little above 60. Those that were killed were close to 30, although the military has gone there and restore calm but some people have run away to safer areas” he stated
Nasir Abdullahi further said that some houses, including the residence of the District Head of Dekara, Abubakar Umar, were set ablaze during the attacks, just as the victims were abducted from the four communities while observing Juma’at prayers last Friday.
According to reports, sequel to the Friday’s attacks, dozens of residents have relocated to New Bussa and others to Benin Republic after terrorists threatened to kill anyone who remained in the affected communities.
Police confirmed that a joint security operation had been deployed to the area in order to track the attackers so as to facilitate the rescue of the abducted worshippers without delay.
Moreso, a resident of the community in Borgu have appealed to the security agencies to fastrack the rescue of all the victims from their abductees.
