NANS Condemns Niger Govt Attempt to Take Over Bosso Campus of FUT Minna

The Leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Zone C (North Central), has strongly condemned the alleged attempt by the Niger State Government to forcefully take over the Bosso Campus land of the Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna.

Zonal Coordinator, NANS Zone C (North Central) Comrade Hussaini Jamilu Ebbo made this known during a press briefing at IBB Pen House Minna, who gave three weeks ultimatum to the Niger state government to reversed the plan or will take over the street of Minna on protest.

He added that the union will mobilized against any attempts to confiscate the land of the Bosso Campus of the FUT Minna in all ramifications . However, described the state government threat letter fixing December one to vacate the premises as embarrassing, unfortunate and disgraceful

According to him, “NANS Zone C stands firmly with the management, staff, and students of FUT Minna and will continue to defend the integrity of federal educational institutions across the North Central Zone.”

Comrade Jamilu Ebbo stressed that the education of Nigerian students must not be politicized or jeopardized. FUT Minna remains a federal institution established for national development, and its assets must be protected in the interest of students and the nation at large.

The NANS Zone C views this development as a direct threat to academic stability, institutional autonomy, and the welfare of thousands of students who rely on the Bosso Campus for learning and accommodation. Any attempt to disrupt academic activities or displace critical facilities will be strongly resisted within the ambit of the law.

He therefore called on the Niger State Government to immediately halt any action capable of destabilizing the University and to engage the appropriate federal authorities through lawful and constitutional channels if any concerns exist.

It could be recalled that the Niger State Government first issued a letter dated October 3rd, 2025, claiming that the land was on lease and that the lease term had expired. Subsequently, another correspondence was reportedly sent on November 27th, 2025, through the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), reiterating the position and urging the University management to vacate the premises.
