Kamuku Youth Forum Begs FG to Establish Military Base, Police Outpost in Rafi Community

Niger State Kamuku Youth Forum has appealed to the federal government to urgently establish military base and police out post to curtain the activities of bandits, cattle restlers and kidnapping who are persistently killing innocent lives, destroying properties since 2018 to date in communities of Rafi local government area of Niger state.

This has become necessary sequel to urgency into the plight of people of Ushama, kawo, Uregi and kirobo in Rafi Local Government of Niger state.

Member House of Representatives, Rafi/Shiroro/Munya Federal Constituency, Member Niger State House of Assembly, Rafi Constituency and Chairman, Rafi Local Government Council, Kagara, as well as the Emir of Kagara.

The letter, which was signed by the Coordinating Committee Chairman of the Niger State Kamuku Youth Forum, Ibrahim Isah Uregi dated 21st May, 2026, titled: “Urgent Appeal for Justice and Security Following Attacks on Gimi and Tungan Bako Villages in both Tegina and Kwangoma Districts”.

According to the letter, “We write on behalf of the Niger State Kamuku Youth Forum and the youth of Kamuku land to express our deep grief and urgent concern over the violent attack on Gimi and Tungan Bako Villages, Tegina District of Rafi Local Government Area.”

Responding , a community leader, Ibrahim Isah Uregi  said that the attack took place on 20th May, 2026, which resulted in the killing of innocent residents and displacement of families who are now without shelter, food, and safety.

 

The community cried out over the recent attacks and Bomb blast by the Airforce fighter jet made people of the area felt dejected and felt lack of government presence.

The Kamuku Youth Forum further stated that providing military base and police out post, will encourage people of the area to go back to their farms as the only source of their livelyhood.

“The Kamuku people are peace-loving and law-abiding. We believe that swift and decisive action will restore public confidence and deter further bloodshed in Rafi LGA” the letter stated.

The Forum also calls for discreet and thorough investigation to identify, arrest, and prosecute those responsible for the attack, – Strengthen security presence in Gimi, Tungan Bako, and the neighboring villages to prevent further loss of lives, – Provide emergency relief including food, medical care, and shelter for displaced persons and the injured, – Engage community leaders and youth in security dialogue to rebuild trust and prevent future violence.
