Niger CJ donates to ease supply of water for Minna Old Correctional centre

The Chief Judge of Niger State, Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik has procured four tyre to the only existing water tanker to ameliorate the acute water scarcity at the Minna Old Medium Correctional Custodial Centre.

This was sequel to the visit to the Chief Judge by the State Controller CC Ogunleye Seyi Oladipupo where he requested the Judge for her support to procure the tyres.

It was reliably gathered that the inmates at the Minna Medium Security have been without adequate water for their domestic use in the last six months subjecting the inmates to trekking a long distance to source for water for their domestic use.

According to findings, the only existing bore-hole in the Old Minna Medium Security Custodial facility had dried up subjecting the convicted inmate to untold hardship to source for water.

Chief Judge Halima Abdulmalik while presenting the donation to the State Controller, stated that the donation will go a long way to reduce the plight of the inmates to the barest level to source for water as experienced in the last past few months. Assuring that she will continue to impact on their lives despite being in the Custody.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Controller General of the Correction (CGC) Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, the Niger State Controller CC Ogunleye Seyi Oladipupo described the donation as a real demonstration of genuine concern for the well-being of persons in Custody.

He noted that the kind gesture of the Chief Judge will further strengthen the already established synergies between the Niger State Judiciary and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NicoS)
