Niger Liquor Board Assures of Transparency, Accountability in All Its Dealings.

Niger State Liquor Licensing Board has reiterated the unwavering commitment of the current leadership of the board to ensure transparency and accountability in all it activities especially as it concerns its revenue generation.
The Executive Director, Operations and Enforcement of the Board, Mohammed Hamisu Kogunan gave the assurance while speaking with journalists in Minna, reassuring to operate an open door policy that will build trust and confidence in the board.
He noted that Niger State Liquor Licensing Board has put in place a very strict mechanisms to block leakages in its revenue collections toward achieving
improvement in the entire process.
According to him, the board currently have a dedicated account for all payment which includes Licensing and Inspection fees by liquor vendors. This has effectively blocked hitherto the beneficiaries of the past porous system, sequel to the present measurements put in place.
Mohammed Hamisu who also the Tudun Minna explained that records indicated a significant improvement in revenue generation and remittance by the board as available at government relevant agency responsible for harnessing government of all internal revenues in the state.
The Executive Director explained that the board has been having robust and cordial relationship with Liquor vendors due to the well coordinated approach by the current board leadership in line with the Governor Mohammed Umar Bago’s “New Niger Agenda” of Niger state.
Hamisu emphasized that the board have uncovered dubious individuals going after liquor vendors across the state to collect fees and other unlawful charges without the authority of the board, hence the security agencies have been mobilized to ensure the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators of such acts.
While he declared to have enjoined a cordial working relationship with the Director General Barrister Yahaya Halidu (Pera) commended his Boss dedication, foresight, hardwork and inclusivity in his leadership approach whose appointment by Governor Mohammed Umar Bago was the best thing to have happened to the board in 2025 considering his level of knowledge, experience in ensuring full compliance with the liquor laws and regulations.
He, therefore applauded the liquor vendors for their patience, support, understanding, cooperation, and maintaining peaceful conducts in their respective places during inspection tours while assuring their of the board fairness towards enhancing their businesses.
The Board Executive Director, Operations and Enforcement also advised liquor vendors not to be scared and ensure they contact the board for verification if anyone comes around for payments of any kind to authenticate from him, the board Secretary or even from the Director General to avoid falling victim of illegal liquor operators.
Tudun Minna, however maintained that its activities of surveillance of going after the illegal liquor business operators to ensure compliance and sanity in its operations, warning liquor vendors across the state to desist from selling of alcoholic drinks closed to schools, churches, mosques or face complete closure from business as from next year.
