Niger State Gov’t Allocates 500 Hectres of Land for Abuja Steel Mills Limited

Niger State Government, under the leadership of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, remains firmly committed to positioning the state as Nigeria’s foremost destination for industrial investment, renewable energy development, and sustainable economic growth.

The State Government has formally allocated 500 hectares of land in Diko, Gurara Local Government Area, to Abuja Steel Mills Limited for the establishment of a Solar Farm and Industrial Park.

This strategic initiative aligns with the administration’s broader agenda of accelerating industrialisation, expanding energy infrastructure, creating employment opportunities, and stimulating economic activities across the state.

The project represents a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to transform Niger State into a major industrial hub by leveraging its vast land resources, strategic location, and emerging energy assets. It is expected to strengthen manufacturing capacity, enhance power generation, support local industries, and contribute meaningfully to national economic development.

As part of its long-term industrialisation strategy, the State Government is also taking steps to designate and gazette approximately 200,000 hectares of land along the Diko–Tafa corridor for industrial purposes.

This initiative is designed to attract large-scale investments, promote value-added production, and maximise opportunities arising from the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline project.

The Government recognizes that sustainable development is best achieved through strong partnerships between the public and private sectors. Consequently, it will continue to provide an enabling environment that encourages responsible investments, protects investor confidence, and promotes corporate social responsibility for the benefit of host communities.

The Niger State Government appreciates Abuja Steel Mills Limited and other investors who have demonstrated confidence in the state’s economic potential. Such investments are critical to the realisation of the New Niger Agenda and the attainment of inclusive prosperity for all citizens.
