Niger Governor Reassures of Continuity in Government Policies to Achieve Dev’t

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger state, has said that his administration decided to continue with some government policies and abandoned projects of previous administrations in order to put the state on the path of greatness.

The Governor made this known when he received the former Commissioners Forum on a visit to the Government House, Minna.

He said it is unfortunate that the state, since the return of democracy, has been characterised by witch-hunting, persecution, lack of continuity in the implementation of government policies and insecurity.

Governor Bago explained that under his administration, the state is witnessing a new beginning through the New Niger Agenda, which is centred on accountability and responsibility.

He revealed that his administration is working tirelessly to address the challenges facing serving and retired civil servants, stressing that they deserve their entitlements for paying their dues to the state.

Governor Bago commended the former governor of Niger State, Doctor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, whom he described as a great leader who implemented various people-oriented policies during his tenure.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Professor Mohammed Yahaya Kuta, said the group, comprising former commissioners and retired permanent secretaries who served during the Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu administration between 2007 and 2015, decided to align with Governor Bago in recognition of his achievements and his efforts to sustain some of the former governor’s projects.
