The Deputy Inspector General Training and Development and Coordinating for North Central, DIG Isyaku Mohammed has insisted that the Nigerian Police have the requisite weapons and training capacity to fight bandits, kidnapping and other insecurity vices confronting the country.

He made the disclosure at the stakeholders meeting while on his second day official visit to Niger state command to ascertain the security situation and convened IG’s message to the state command in Minna.

He stated that the state police has come to stay aimed at enhancing the success of community policing in the country that are to complement the federal police who are not threatened in anyway by their establishment according to him.

DIG Isyaku Mohammed who appreciate the resilience, sacrifice, commitment and contributions of the personnel, reassured to improve its support for interventions to the command challenges especially in the  areas of logistics, welfare package, training and other needs.

The Zonal DIG advocate for youths engagement in positive ventures and mentorship to be better citizens, assured of the confidentiality of their information sources while he reassured the commitment of all their personnel for insurance packages and review of the current harmful pension policy.

In his remarks, the Niger State Police Commissioner CP Abdullahi Adamu Elleman applauded the DIG Isyaku Mohammed for his dedication, hardwork, and the assessment visit as well the stakeholders engagement on the state security situation in order to proffer solutions.

Elleman than encouraged the participants to exhibit openness in their discussions to enable the Inspector General of Police representative get the actual challenges bedeviling the command communities in Niger state to be presented to the headquarters.

The North Central Vice Chairman of the Police Community Relation Committee (PCRC), Alhaji Tanko Dada revealed they have launched five million membership drive and embarked on Neighborhood Watch strategy to ensure security and safety of citizens, assured of sustainable partnership with the security agencies in carrying out their responsibilities.

In their various contributions, the stakeholders emphasized on the improved welfare and retirement packages for the police personnel to encourage effective service delivery.

They charged on the federal government in the provision of better and adequate equipments, logistics, sustain collaborative mentorship, incubation and orientation of youths to be better future leaders, while warning communities to desist from accommodating criminals in their respective residential areas.
