Al-Nassr Denies Ronaldo Ownership Claims

The Chairman of Saudi Arabian football club Al-Nassr, Abdullah Al-Majed, has dismissed speculations that Portuguese superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, owns a share in the club, stating that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner remains strictly a player.

Al-Majed made the clarification while speaking on Ronaldo’s role and influence in the Saudi Pro League, amid widespread claims linking the former Manchester United forward to ownership interests at the club.

Naija News recalls that Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in January 2023 after his controversial exit from Manchester United in November 2022, a move that marked a major turning point for football in Saudi Arabia.

Following his arrival, several global football stars, including Neymar Jr., Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kanté, also made high-profile moves to clubs in the Saudi Pro League, significantly boosting the league’s global visibility and commercial appeal.

Speculators have often credited Ronaldo’s decision to move to Saudi Arabia as the catalyst for the influx of elite players into the league.

Speaking in an interview reported by Sportskeeda, Al-Majed acknowledged Ronaldo’s influence off the pitch but stressed that the former Real Madrid star holds no ownership stake in Al-Nassr.

“He helped to convince a lot of the players,” Al-Majed said, highlighting Ronaldo’s role in attracting top talents to the Saudi Pro League.

However, the chairman was firm in dismissing claims of shared ownership.

“Ronaldo doesn’t have a share in the club, and this is his business as well as the owners’ business,” he added.

Since joining Al-Nassr, Ronaldo has continued to deliver impressive performances, underlining his value to the club beyond his commercial appeal.

The 39-year-old forward has scored 110 goals and provided 22 assists in 126 appearances for Al-Nassr across all competitions, establishing himself as one of the most influential players in the club’s history.
