EASTER: Niger CAN Tasks FG, State Government to End Insecurity, Poverty in the Country

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Niger State Chapter has tasked the federal and state governments to urgently put up measures in order to end incessant insecurity and alleviate current poverty bedeviling the state and Nigeria.

This is contained in his Easter Message titled: Be Hopeful, Be Resilient, Be Compassionate, issued by the State Chairman of CAN, Most Rev. Dr. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna also urged Christian faithful to use the Easter celebration to express love to the less privileged in the society by sharing gifts to the needy, widows, orphans and all those who are in dire need

The CAN Chairman who is also the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese explained that Easter is the joyful end of the Lenten season of prayers, fasting and alms giving, added that it is a season of joy, hope and a reminder of God’s love for all (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).

According to him, “we urge the Federal and State Governments to do all they can to alleviate the sufferings of the people; to tackle and put an end to the insecurity challenges that have ravaged and bedevilled our land, claimed innocent lives, disrupted farming and even rendered our people homeless”.

Catholic Bishop Bulus Yohanna however enjoined everyone to continue to pray for Niger state, for unity and peaceful coexistence and for God’s guidance upon Leaders especially the state Governor, Umaru Bago.

“let us pray that God will grant him the grace to pursue with vigour and actualize the ‘New Niger Agenda’. It is our prayer and hope that all projects started will be taken to their logical conclusion”.he stated

He encouraged everyone especially Christians to ensure full participation by coming out enmasse to exercise their franchise during the 2027 general elections. urged the State Government to continue to provide an all inclusive government.

Most Rev. Bulus Yohanna commended everyone for a successful lenten period , saying that “let us be living examples to others, through our lives of love, mercy, compassion and self-sacrificing service that the Risen Jesus is living in our hearts”.
