NSCDC Calls for Collaborative Efforts in Prosecution of Vandals in Niger State

Nigeria Service Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Niger state command has called on sister security agencies to collaborate in the prosecution of vandals
and reiterated its unwavering commitment to ensure the protection and safeguarding of all national critical assets across the state.

The Commandant Suberu Siyaka Aniviye made this known during a stakeholders meeting on state level coordination for the protection of CNAI in Niger state with the theme: Safeguarding the National Vital Assets Need for Stakeholders Collaboration for CNAI Protection in Niger State, held at its office in Minna.

Representated by the DCC Abdullahi Shehu who insisted that with the new laws only the NSCDC has the mandates to prosecute offenders of vandalism in the country, hence the need for the collaboration of sister security agencies to handover all arrests to them for prosecution.

He stressed that as the leading security agency in the protection of the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI), called for the cooperation of all stakeholders to ensure effective ways to enhance peace and protection of the national assets in the country.

The Commandant lamented over the high rate of vandalization and its consequences to efficient and effective service delivery, especially as it affects telecommunications Infrastructure in Nigeria, call for concern, adding the offenders at state and local levels to serve imprisonment of 12 years for attempt, 12 years for vandals and 12 years for forceful removed while it’s 14 years each at national level.

Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger state represented by the Commissioner for Mineral Resources Mohammed Kasim Danjuma applauded the corps efforts and determination while assuring government full support to the command in actualizing its mandates and objectives.

On their parts, Nigeria Electricity Company representative, Samuel Edetina, Telecommunications Providers Engineer Kingsley, Energy Distribution Company of Nigeria Major S.Mustapha (retired) all decried the persistent vandalization of their facilities and infrastructure on daily basis as alarming.

Also, the representatives of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Police Force, Scrap Dealers Association unanimously declared to sustain their support to the Nigeria Service Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in all aspects to ensure a successful operations.

They advocated for the recruitment to fill the gap of inadequate manpower, better and provision of modern equipments and digital protection of infrastructure to support the personnel.
