Niger State First Lady Partners to Ensure Access to Water in Edati LGA

Niger State First Lady, Hajiya Fatima Bago, has strengthened efforts to improve access to safe water in Edati Local Government Area through the rehabilitation and drilling of motorised water sources across the local government’s ten wards, with additional support from Eshe, a women’s health technology company.

The water projects, initiated and funded by the First Lady, were commissioned during a visit to Edati by a delegation comprising the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Jacob Baba Yisa; Commissioner for Health; Dr. Murtala Bagana, Chief Executive Officer of Eshe, Stanislav; the Russian Embassy Team; and the Coordinator of Niger State-Russia Relations, Mrs. Natalia Yisa.

As part of its contribution to the initiative, Eshe donated ten water tanks to complement the First Lady’s intervention, reinforcing the partnership around improving access to basic services that directly affect the wellbeing of women, children and families.

The intervention reflects the First Lady’s continued focus on community-level development, particularly investments that address everyday challenges faced by vulnerable households.

As a women’s health technology platform, Eshe’s contribution also represents an extension of its commitment to women’s health beyond digital platforms.

The company, whose focus is on improving access to reliable, culturally relevant health information and support through digital tools, therefore provided a practical link between its broader women’s health mandate and the social determinants that shape health outcomes.

During the commissioning activities, the visiting delegation also had the opportunity to observe first-hand the impact of the intervention at community level, further strengthening discussions around possible areas of collaboration between Niger State and development-oriented partners.

The Edati intervention also signals a broader opportunity for Niger State to attract innovative organisations whose interventions can complement government investments and translate partnerships into tangible benefits for communities.
